Ngāti Whakaue Educational Trust Scholarship

This fund has been made available by Ngāti Whakaue Tribal Lands Incorporation (NWTL) through its Charitable Trust known as Ngāti Whakaue Education Trust for Post graduate studies related to the Incorporations business enterprises which relate to Business, Agribusiness including science related studies, Accounting and the Environment.

 

The scholarship is known as the Ngāti Whakaue Education Trust Scholarship.

 

Eligibility

Applicants must be in their second year of study and and MUST be of Ngāti Whakaue Descent.  Evidence of these criteria must be provided with your application.

*exception for the Agribusiness training

 

Reports

Every scholar shall provide an academic record from their place of study.

 

Applications

Applicants are to complete the Ngāti Whakaue Educational Trust Scholarship application which can be accessed via our website or by contacting the office for the forms.

 

Monday the 11th of June 2018 is the closing date for applications, with references included, and submitted directly to the NWTL Office by 3pm on that day either by email or post.  The sub-committee will then shortlist the applicants and those that are shortlisted.

 

The applicant must provide:

  1. a) Proof of Ngāti Whakaue descent.
  2. b) A statement outlining the proposed course of study.
  3. c) A copy of the candidates academic transcript provided by the university.
  4. d) Confirmation of enrolment.
  5. e) A statement outlining the candidates present extracurricular activities and any other particulars

that may prove useful to the selection committee.

  1. f) Evidence of other scholarships received in the last two years.
  2. g) A Curriculum Vitae

Candidates should also provide two references, one of which should be from a Ngāti Whakaue Elder.  The references must be attached to the application by the closing date.

 

Selection

Candidates will be assessed on academic achievement, relevance and competence of proposed research, strength of referee support and contribution to other activities relevant to the scholarship.

 

No scholarship shall be awarded if, in the opinion of the selection committee, there is no candidate/s of sufficient merit applying.

 

The selection committee’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered in to, following the selection meeting.
