Earlier this year, Ihakara recieved Ngāti Whakaue Tribal Lands first farming scholarship. This rangatahi of Ngāti Whakaue descent is attending Taratahi Agricultural Centre in Masterton where he is undergoing the National Certificate in Farming Skills. Ihakara was awarded two thousand dollars and was also supported to gain paid temporary employment with Whakaue Farming Limited. His whānau as above are very proud of his mahi and we see Ihakara making a great contribution to the Iwi and whenua of Ngāti Whakaue.
