This month has been relatively dry with no rain until the 16th of March. Pasture rates have slowed, but covers on the farms are still good. The farms drought assessment this month is near normal.
On Wharenui Station, lamb growth and sales are the predominant activities at the moment along with weed control, fertilizer applications and maize harvesting.
At Tihi-o-tonga, 30 new FE tolerant Romney rams were purchased and arrived this month. Grazing Dairy Heifer weight remain in line with target growth rates and on average are on par with last season.
Pasture covers on Ngongotahā Station remain higher than normally expected for this time of year. Lamb schedule has lifted slightly this month and we are getting through the lamb kill. Targeting higher carcass rates to offset drop ion lamb price this year.
