While January was dry, rain towards the end of the month sees all of the farms in reasonable condition, with good supplement reserves and confident of all stock planned to be sold before 30 June being sold at or above target weights and prices.
We have bought additional cattle and some more lambs for Wharenui. At this juncture, we have only still to buy cattle for Ngongotaha before 30 June (in line with budget), while additional store lamb purchases will be weather dependent.
Weights of sale stock continue to hold in line with budget expectations and expenses are generally in-hand. The need to cut additional silage at Wharenui has been the major budgetary challenge this month.
