Beautiful Kārearea named after the late Atareta Maxwell

Wingpsan: National Bird of Prey Centre welcomed our General Manager Tina Ngatai to their site at Paradise Valley. There she met the beautiful female Kārearea (above), Atareta. Named after the late Atareta Maxwell, this type of falcon is said to be more rare than the kiwi. In 2011, Ataretas husband, Trevor Maxwell also visited the beautiful bird. He said that he enjoyed the experience and,

 “Here she is soaring through the sky and what a wonderful feeling being out there watching her.”
